When a player invites a friend (or stranger, or a new self-owned account for that matter) , both receive experience boosts. The Inviter gets a 10% experience boost for an entire week (If the member subscrided to members), while the invited get a 100% (either subscribing on p2p or not). Yes you heard that right, a 100% experience boost (for all levels under 30, works for one week).
That is pretty sad if you ask me... I feel like RuneScape is getting more and more monetized. While browsing the forums, many players have been flaming the heck out of jagex.
Even zezima has replied with "That's very... disappointing" on the forums
Do you guys even remember this phrase from Mod MMG?
"One of our fundamental philosophies is that having fun is more important to us than making as much money as possible." - Mod MMG
First, the bonus xp weekend, then you could pay for unbanning an account, afterwards paying for the auroras, a nicname, and now pay for experience!
What will the next step be? Microtransactions? I'm afraid that these are not too far around the corner.
Join the Riots on world 66 p2p, or on world 79 in f2p. What do you guys think of all this? What do you think of the refer a friend program?
How do you see Runescape evolving if Jagex's Financial goals are not reached? Have your say in the comments below!

Nice post.
The riot was a big one !
Jagex are fools of the highest order.
Good post.
There's over 14 000 posts in Refer A Friend Programme thread, people are really pissed. I'm very pissed too, I hate this new update. I'm waiting for Jmods answering something but they seem don't care about their paying customers. All they care about is money and their greed is ruining the whole game -.-
This is indeed very disappointing. With the referring program, people can now pay others to be "referred" under their name to get a stupid experience boost, which is like a jump for joy for people that pay real life money for their accounts and money.
I didn't even know you can pay to unban an account. This truly does bother me that Runescape is getting more and more monetized.
Then again, I suppose Runescape needs the money since they're spending it all on developing games that won't get anywhere (like 8Realms).

Thanks for dropping by buddy!
@Rasequin
Yeah the thread is massively long!, though I can't find it anymore dammit! Does anyone have the link?

Agreed, their other games have been failures so far. If only they focused their attention on making runescape genuinely better, and bring win back the love of the rs community that they once had, then the popularity of rs would rise and they would make more money in the long term. This is even more true today, as a lot more people have computers than they did several years ago.
