Gold4Rs Getting Sued By Jagex

The largest rs gold selling company, Gold4RS is allegedly getting sued by Jagex. In a statement on their news section, on the 9th september, rs4gold have written about getting sued by Jagex for cause of having the "rs" name on their domain name gold4rs.com.

As a result, gold4rs have now established their gold-selling site on another domain name "gold4fun". It now seems thought that the domain name "gold4rs.com" is still owned by the gold-selling company, since it is using a permanent redirect function to redirect surfers to their new site.

Now did the company behind gold4rs breach any copyright issues by having rs in their web url? Most likely not. There have been similar issues in the past with wordpress.org, where the company was suing website owners for using the word "wordpress" in their domain names. After court settlements, it was ruled that the word "wp" would be an adequate alternative and would conform with copyright laws.

Similarly, it should be about the same story with runescape. If Jagex were to really sue some gold-selling and bot companies in court, for cause of them having the "rs" acronym in the website name, they would not win. After all, nobody owns the alphabet!

But I was wondering, is that Jagex's only strategy to combat real-world trading and botting? I hope they have an actual approach... because this won't get them very far.

Gold4RS reports selling between 6 and 8 trillion gold in runescape each year. That's around 6 million US dollars with current pricing.

A new Rare Item In Runescape Classic !

Hey guys, a brief post today to bring some energy into the runescape classic community. With RSC being closed for new registrations, there will be an upcoming rare item that will boom in value within the game. The item is not new since rsc has not really been updated since 2003. Can you guess what it is? Think for a second...

If you guessed the accuracy amulet, then you are right! There is only one possible way of obtaining an accuracy amulet, and this is by completing the witch's potion quest. In runescape classic, few people are willing to do the quest, and the same goes for any other quest giving magic experience for that matter (this is because it makes stakers and wilderness pkers gain unwanted combat levels, regardless of their stats).

So in a way, it is a rare item, or to the least semi-rare. If you can remember, in rs2 accuracy amulets were worth a steady 10k gold each on the grand exchange. But that value really shot up as soon as groups of people (merchanters) created demand for this item.

Take a look at this graph and see what happened to amulets of accuracy on the 18th of october 2010

Amulet of Accuracy

On the 18th oct. in '10 , Jagex pulled the trigger on this item. They made the item buyable (even after you complete the quest) from wizard migog for 5'000 gp. But that's not where I want to get to.

The point is that when there's a very limited supply, prices will most certainly go up as soon as an individual, or group of individuals buy this item.

Now, in rsc, the conditions for this item to drastically climp up in price are even more ideal. First, rsc is much more stable than rs2 (there are no updates). Second, few people would be willing to complete the Imp Catcher quest. Thirdly - and another factor that adds a lot to this - is that no more accounts can be created after the the 29th of september 2011 (In one week as of writing this).

How to Profit from this new Rare

If you want to profit from this, I have a few tips for you; get your friends who signed up for rsc (but that don't play anymore) to do the quest. All that the imp catcher quest requires is for you to go speak to wizard migog and offer the following
  • : one black bead, one white bead, one yellow bead, and on red bead.
These are dropped by level 3 imps. Imps are located mostly everywhere on the map, but are mostly found in karamja. A good trick would be to stack up a lot of these, and then offer them to friends or people you don't know plus some money (to be determined by you depending on the situation) and have the player trade you.

I am really looking forward to see how the value of this item fluctuates in the future. My prediction is that amulets of accuracy will be worth around 750k to 1 million within one year of rsc closing to the public. Let me know what you plan on doing after reading this,
Discuss!

Who's Bought Runefest Tickets?

Is anyone here attending Runefest 2011? Runescape and runescape classic are fun, in part because of the interaction that people have in these games with eachother. Community plays a big role role across runescape.

Despite that Jagex does not always listen to player demands, I believe that attending this social event that puts us players face to face is really cool. Here is a preview of last year's (2010) Runefest event.

After all, we do not live in a virtual world (despite that some of us spend the bulk of their time there).

So is anyone planning to go to the Runefest event in 2011? Who's bought tickets already? Have you went to the first one? What do you plan on doing this year. I can only dream of crossing oceans this year, but perhaps in 2013 though, you never know! Cheers runescapers ;)

Quick Start Guide To Rs Classic / RSC

So Runescape Classic has started again, and now it seems it will be for the last time. Let's make it fun. In this quick start guide I'll adress 3 questions; How to make money, What type of account you should make and lastly a few pointers.

How To Make Money

There are a couple of good ways of making money that I know of, with combat being the most effective by far. You can kill unicorns for their unicorn horns, they are worth 1k each. You may kill all sorts of monsters for a little money. I have not played rsc for long enough to tell you the best places. A good reasoning thought would be to think about monsters that and their drops in runescape 2, they will often have the same drops  or similar drops. Though The best reason to kill npc's for money is that you do two things in same time; getting combat up and  building your stack.

Staking is also another profitable way to make money, and it works great with making gold via killing npcs, since you will need to train combat. You can win a lot as well as loose a lot but staking can be really fun.

You can also merchant, which works well with staking. Most people hang out, trade and stake in draynor. It is like the equivalent of the world  1 grand exchange.

You may also fish, mine, and more but they are of a more boring order. Well at least from my perspective. Another skill that makes a lot of money is herblaw. You can make super potion sets at the cost of 10k gold pieces and sell them retail at 100k each, or sell them in bulk for around 50k each.

What Type of Account/Fighter to Make

Be weary than in RSC, Magic levels your combat level just like prayer does. Every 8 magic levels equal one combat level, no matter what your other levels are. Note that a lot of people stake with magic off. In RSC, magic is very powerfull. Sometimes you see can see mages around combat 40-50 stake against maxed fighters that are level 110 or so. You may also want to stay one prayer since most people stake with prayer ticked off.

You may also make a 1 defence pure. They are fun and are quite good stakers even against mains or tanks. They can be very good for player-killing as well since their low combat level and high offensive stats give them the best chance to 3-hit their opponent. Some people choose 10 defence for the fancy black armor, but I prefer not having that, since you will be limited to always wearing that.

Another good option would be to make a 40 defence "pure". At 40 defence, it becomes easier to train. You can afk train for 5 minutes on giants, spiders, hobgoblins and plenty of other monsters, plus you can wear rune armor. For one thing, afk training sounds interesting, since you can do your homework, type a word document or do other internet-related things while your character is gaining combat levels. An important notice though, is make sure you stay low defence at first, and complete the quests that need to be completed in order to get the dragon battle axe. The dragon battle-axe is the weapon that hits the highest in runescape classic.

Other things to watch out for (add your tips in the comments)

If you don't want defence xp, train on agressive (strenght xp) or accurate (attack xp). When you first log on, try to find a monster that has less hitpoints than your maximum hit. And for that purpose take off any weapon and amulet. If you are pretty sure that the npc you are about to attack has more hitpoints than your maximum hit, then attack it and quickly switch to agressive (or accurate). Every time you log on, you will be fighting on controlled by default, so watch out.

Wining your attack; I think hp can be usefull, but some people who do not want hitpoints - for the sake of bringing their combat level too high - train their attack with wines or beers on dummies. They temporarily bring their attack level low enough (under level 7) so that they can hit the dummy and gain attack experience. You may do that all the way up to level 99 attack if you wish, provided that you have a good stock of wines/beers.

Good luck! If you've recently started rsc, I hope that this short guide has helped you. If you've been playing for some time and want to leave more advice, please do so in the comments section. Have a good one!

Last Opportunity to Join Rs Classic/RSC

Hey guys, I hope that you took notice of the announcement on the homepage. Well I'll say it anyways for those living under a rock; Between now and the 30th of september will be your LAST opportunity to log into Runescape Classic. Anyone who is or becomes a paying p2p member can start a new account in runescape classic between that lapse of time.

I hope you all join RSC in great numbers as It's a fun game with nice graphics, I find them much nicer to look at then runescape hd for instance believe me.

One thing I like about classic is that it seems much more relaxing to play than rs hd. No complicated graphics, no randoms (as I know of) , no lag, etc.

Who else hear likes Runescape Classic?

Examples of Good Pure Stats

It takes time and effort to build up a good pure, seconds to mess it up and just a little time to plan it. Follow on to see what good runescape stats resemble like!

Back in the days that I started playing (around 2002-2003) , pures were rare. They were made for one purpose and one only - to kill an enemy in the shortest amount of time (less than 10-15 seconds) before they could run to safety.

Traditional Rs2 HybridPictured Here: A traditional rs2 pure hybrid.
Max hit with range: 13.6  Scimitar:19.3 R2h: 23.4
In this case it has 1 def and prayer, 80 magic, 80 range, 80 strength, and 40 attack with 78 hp at a combat level of 58 (any more level makes it 59).

Traditional rs2 pures were 1 prayer and 1 defence. The mentallity of creating one was clear; Maximum attacking performance at the lowest possible combat level. People would never fight you back, and you would be attacking most of the time.

This setup is now rarely used now, but it is my favorite. What I like is that you never have to worry about going out of prayer points. If you are going in deep wilderness then you don't have to worry about altars. Also, you are not tied up on wearing monk robes to make prayer last more. And wearing monk robes is a disadvantage too, especially when using range or magic. Prayer is not friendly and can be a bit of a hassle for hybriding, ex. range maging or doing the range to rune2h combo. With 1 prayer, you also have much better chances at winning in duelling since most people tick prayer OFF on the duelling rules box.
However, the disadvantage is that from 80 range and 80 strenght and going up, you will hit slightly lower against those with the same combat level as you.
--------------------------

runescape 1 def strength pureNow this is the same setup, again with 58 combat, but without the hitpoints that range gives you when training (73 hitpoints instead of 78).
Rune Scimitar max hit: 20.0  R2h:24.3
The 4 hitpoints save you enough combat levels to attain 84 strength. In this scenario, it's assumed that you've trained magic in ways that doesn't give xp. If you train your pure in p2p however, you could get 83 range in this scenario without any hitpoints.

In this case, you have high strength and magic. You can use magic as magic defence or to have fun in the deep wilderness. However range and mage becomes more handy in those situations.

-------------------------------

Range/Mage Hybrid
A Range/Mage pure maxed for 58 combat.
Ranged Max hit: 14.1
Range/Mage is an ideal combination in the deep levels of wilderness like at greater demons or rune rocks and it's a ton of fun. No melee means that you can not go edgeville pking with range/2h which is also fun. In edgeville, you won't get kills without 90 range or more. The upside is that you can level your range and magic higher.

Range/Mage pures were the first choice of pures in early rs2, before pures got common. 40 attack pures were later added to counter these, though range is still king in both f2p and p2p when it comes to damage per second.
-------------------------------

A modern strength pure. You can find lots of them at edgeville.
Max hit with rune scimitar: 20.9  With 2h: 25.4
If trained in f2p without range, then you always save a full two combat levels (8 hitpoints). In this example, you save 7 hitpoints. From here, some decide to get 34 prayer, giving 0.375 extra combat levels, but adding 6 attack. This prayer will last 1 minute 49 seconds when activated or around two minutes 45 seconds with monk robes on (cut that in half if both prayers are activated). 31 prayer gives 3.75 combat levels, and will definitely disadvantage someone in staking. For instance, these stats are good for edgeville pking.

Still at 58 combat, this is a hybrid with 43 prayer.
Range Max hit: 142.4, with Scimitar: 19.8 With R2h: 24.1
Note that I've put 75 magic with 73 range but it can have up to 75 range and still be at 58 combat if trained in p2p. Though if in f2p, as soon as it would hit 74 range, the hitpoints will make the character bump up to 69 constitution and setting the account at 59 combat.

Now 43 prayer gives exactly 5.25 extra combat levels from 1, and 1.5 more combat levels from 34. When using the spell protect from melee, it will last exactly 2 minutes and 29 seconds. The spell eagle eye, will last 2 minutes 26 seconds, and both combined will last 1 minute 14 seconds. Add about 8 seconds to that with a power ammy (4 if both prayers are on). Protection prayers can definitely help in the higher levels of the wilderness if your opponent is fighting back, or if a high level or clan is after you. The downside is that prayer is not permanent. If you enjoy going solo pking at the rune rocks though, there is an altar in level 32 wilderness, not that far south.

The same as above, except without attack and prayer to cut down on training time and also a couple of hitpoints (if you are f2p).
Max ranged hit: 13.0
Note again that if you're p2p though and don't mind training more, then you can get the melee stats without hitpoints.

Obby Mauler, are also called 1 attack pure at times. They have high pure stats considering their extremely low combat level.
Max hit with Obsidian Maul : 28.5
The thing to keep in mind for this kind of pure -and I'd say all other pures too, but especially more this one - is to keep hitpoints low in order to fight the weakest players possible and who have the lowest hitpoints level. Obby Maulers are effective at very low combat levels. The higher they get in combat, the less effective they become. You can start doing very well as soon as you hit 60 strength and that will be the time where you will be the most effective. So go player-killing right away!

Try achieving 60 strenght with 15 hp (23 combat) as you will have a max hit of 28.5! , that means you can one hit your opponents! these stats would be even better for pking! At 23 combat, most pures have around 22 hitpoints, and mains, if you can find some, have even less! A max hit of 28.5 coupled with a target of 18 to 24 hp in most cases leaves you with a generous margin of error! It won't be easy to get it to 60 strength without hitpoints. Try doing quests that give high strength and then soul wars. Also, do not max your range level, leave it many levels below because it will level up fast while player-killing.

Other Accounts with good Stats Build

These are pretty much the best choices of pures with the best possible levels that I can think through. 52 prayer "pures"  and higher prayer, or pures with very high attack have been ommitted because they don't do well against the opposition for their given combat levels. Other good accounts to consider for pvping but not pures, would be range tanks with 40 def 80+ range and 1 or 43 prayer. Use them in the deep levels of the wilderness.

So this is about it. Always plan your stats before investing time and energy into a new account. I use the combat calculators from scape-xp to plan my stats.

That's about it. If you can come up with another idea, let me know and I will probably add it on the list. Any questions are welcome & feel free to discuss what you like and prefer, what you hate, etc... Cheers !

Linkbuilder's / Lumbridge City Merchanting Mastermind Course [Review]

If you’ve been merchanting for some time now, you may have heard about Linkbuilder’s Merchanting Mastermind workshop course. Well a couple of days ago, I finally decided to give it a go and see what it’s all about. This is what I think of the course, so read on to see if it’s for you or not.

Seems like a happy customer - found that on their Forum

Upon signing up, I must say that I was a little impressed by the sincerity of this person (linkbuilder). He makes no claims that you’ll be a billionaire overnight. He doesn’t show you fake bank pics on his sales page or bogus/fake testimonials like I’ve seen countless times.

Linkbuilder even lists his address and a phone number in case you want to contact him for questions or pertaining to customer support!! I can say that few authors or at all in runescape are proud or honest enough of what they offer to list their phone number on a runescape website!

Honesty aside though, what Linkbuilder promised is that by following his methods, as well as techniques of reading the market -the same ones that are used by real-life stock exchange traders- (from his own words), that I would build up my wealth faster than I would think is possible.

I then signed up and entered my email…Afterwards I was asked to create my account. Note: It does not let you create an account with capital letters in the name.

After successfully signing up, I’ve found that there is a lot of material covered, and it takes a bit of time and attention to learn.

In short, here most of what's included;

The course is organized in nine modules and each one of them has a specific theme.
First, he teaches you how to build confidence when investing, how to correctly anticipate price changes in charts. He explains price chart patterns that exist in both the real world as well as in the grand exchange with a few of them being; 1-2-3 bottoms, what is and how to properly do swing trading, advanced flipping as well as flipping in uncertain markets, hockey stick patterns and others.

Within each of those modules there is either one or two videos to properly explain each concept, then he shows you live examples. After the videos of each module, there is a questionnaire to make sure you’ve understood all of the ideas behind it.

After all the “technical” modules covering patterns and strategies are dealt with (trust me it takes time to go through them) – there are two other modules about how to pick up the best items to merchant and risk control.

After going through the videos and completing the questionnaires, I can say that I was feeling confident about investing - and even curious about going on the real stock market via my android phone. There are many patterns to learn that are being thought in the course and that also apply to real life (not just runescape).

After you've absorbed his teachings from the modules (it takes time), he then gives you even more practice with another tool; His Composite Charts. This is a tool made to help you test your knowledge and confidence in a “real world” GE Merchanting setting where you try to predict price fluctuations without actually investing gp. On top of these, there is also another section with guides written by other merchanting experts (which I can't comment because I have yet to take a look at).

And finally the live webinars! Yes it is given by linkbuilder himself. For those who don’t know, a live webinar is when you attend an online course with a group of people where students and the teacher (linkbuilder) can talk with eachother while he teaches material on a screen.

As of writing this, I still have to wait to attend the webinar though it seems pretty exciting. (When 20 or so people have bought the product, you will have to wait 2 weeks or so for the next webinar, as otherwise classes will be too large).

Another thing I have to add is that there is also an awesome community behind linkbuilder where they discuss Runescape Merchanting amongst others (Pking, real life stock trading, real life, etc). I’ve found it very mature, people are engaged and speak their minds there – not like your typical large community forums where you see one sentence posts etc…

Final Word

So has Linkbuilder worked hard on this Merchanting Course – Hell yes he did
Should you buy access to the course? A: It depends ! If you are;

a) If you cannot stack up at least 200 or 300k in your bank, you will not be able to fully exploit the techniques discussed and rake in the profits.
On the other hand, if you are either

b)      A person that is able to at least stack up a little money (300k)  the traditional way
      (by skilling)
c)      If you are a person who is ALREADY good at merchanting and wants to become a top-notch merchanter
d)      If you are a person that has not merchanted before but want to learn to do it – and do it well
e)      If, no matter your situation, really want to reach the instance where you don’t need to work(skill) for money anymore – and only have to log in a couple of minutes a day and merchant with full confidence…

…. Then this is for you. If you fall into the a) group (I know a lot of people do) , you will need to think again about your motivations. But if you can identify with b) c) (I was definitely a C person) or d) , then I can only say this course will make you richer in the game after following the techniques (and finally be able do the things you really enjoy most in runescape).

In the end, it comes down to this; Stop SLAVING in runescape (working long hours for gp). Sign up for the course and simply ask the guy a refund if you don’t like it. Cheers everyone! leave your comments below-
