Just Launched: Runescape Bits for Mobile!

Hey guys, today I've some great news for you : Runescape Bits is now available for mobile phones!

I'm glad to say that we are now one of the very first Runescape fansites to have our site adapted for mobile phones!

That's right, if you have an android-based phone, an iphone, a blackberry or any other mobile phone that has internet access (either by wi-fi or a data plan), you will be available to see this site in full on your mobile!

Just point your mobile web browser to the usual runescapebits.blogspot.com , and you will see it. Or if you're on a computer now, you can take your internet-connected phone, and have it scan that barcode on the right.

I've tried it on my own android phone and it's pretty cool. The site loads really fast. Text is easy to read. There is no annoying sideways scrolling. Java, flash, or any large files have been cut out. What that means is that it loads fast and consumes very little bandwidth. Plus, leaving comments and surfing from post to post is easy.

Most people probably won't come here on mobile, but for those that will, I hope that you'll enjoy it. Remember that sometimes(not always) we are the first to publish guides or alerts when new and interesting things come out on runescape, so that would be another fun aspect.

If you need some help to bring a mobile version on your own rs site, then please let me know and I'll try to help.

For now, some feedback would be really awesome. Let me know what you think everyone, cheers!

How to Get the First Hit in Staking [PID]

It’s become common knowledge now amongst duellers, that when two opponents of equal combat stats and equipment are having a duel, the one who will be the first to hit the other will tend to win more often.

Getting the first hit was meant to be “random” to runescape players. However it is not …let me explain.

When you log in to Runescape, your character is assigned a personal identification number (or “PID”). This number can range anywhere from 1 to 2000. You can think of it as a “luck factor” or even a “priority number”. The lower that number is, the “luckier” and more prioritized you become.

So your PID, or “luck factor” as I like to call it, is implicated with many things. For instance, when clicking on a balloon in the party room at the same time as somebody else, the game engine will give priority to the player with the lowest PID. Another example would be when a player casts the telekenetic grab spell, say on wines of zammorack, in same time as another player. The player with the lowest PID will always get it – even if you see that the motion of casting the spell appears to be in same time. Your PID, or priority/luck factor level will tell the game engine to give you the wine. So whichever player is having the lowest PID WILL get the wine. This concept is applied in many areas of the game, including player-killing in the wilderness, dueling/staking and more.

When you start a duel and the screen displays the [3-2-1-go] before the fight, it will not matter how fast you will have spam clicked your opponent. Simply, the one with the lowest PID will get the first hit, and usually the overall highest hits as well.

So before a stake, If you know that your player identification number is lower than that of your opponent, you will get a guaranteed first hit and an improved chance to win the fight. In Runescape 2, unlike runescape classic, you cannot see the exact PID number (In RSC, you could look at Java source code).

So you can only know if your PID is higher or lower than your opponen'ts (but that's well enough to get a first hit anyway). So here are two tricks that are easy to do and that WORK.

Trick #1 Ask your opponent to follow you - tell him you're going to a place with less lag. Now as he follows you, observe the way he follows you. If he trails behind, the he's got a higher PID than you, and hence you should get the first hit. If he follows you up tight, he will be the one to get the first hit. Observe in the vid below;

If he follows you up tight, you might want to have a small stake with him, since he will get the first hit. Once you've staked him once, you may ask him to switch to another world (Switching worlds will reset PIDS for both of you). As a trick, you can tell him for instance that you would like to go to a world with less lag... it's up to you.

Before heading towards the duel arena, you can test out your PID with a friend. If yours is too high, then log out and back in. If you then get a lower PID than your friend, have him log out and back in till he can beat you again. Repeat untill you feel you have a good enough PID.

Method #2 You can also simply duel with your friend for fun and have him log back and in and yourself aswell untill you feel you have a good PID. You may also verify this by doing telekenetic grab over an object with your friend and see who gets it first though the easiest method would be the first one. Just thought about giving you options.

Theories and observations;
Me and you are not the engineers who made the game engine but the best we can do is to support each other with theories and experiences to perfect ourselves. Please add your own observations in the comments section so we can better master this PID system. Here are two of mine;

#1 PID seems to change after about 30 minutes and 2 hours of being logged on
#2  When fighting against an opponent in a duel several times in a row, the first hit is sometimes alternated between one another. HOWEVER, I have felt that even if you have the higher PID and by a rare occasion you hit second, you still seem to get the stronger(luckier) hits and usually catch up really well.
#3 I have felt at times that after logging on, your PID will usually improve after a little time spent logged on and not go down. (Still a theory by all means).

If you have any observations or theories of your own, please leave them in the comments section. Now good luck on making money staking with your new trick. Some people already rely on this and gained millions with this trick. Please come here to report back your wins! Now that's it for today guys, I'm out!

Killing Chickens as a Way to Make Money and XP

I don’t know if you’ve noticed, but feathers have recently skyrocketed in price. As of writing this, they are standing at an all-time high of 18 gp per feather. Killing chickens to sell their feathers is one of the best ways to make money for low levels in f2p – (And a decent one for that matter to higher level accounts)

Money made per hour
I’ve managed to get slightly over 3’000 feathers under one hour. In my case, at 18gp each, that equals to 54’000 gp made in one hour.

Notice that I’ve done that using a mid-leveled account. Actual figures for newer or low level characters could range from 15k per hour (at least) to 40k per hour (very reasonable)

Getting started:
Bring the best weapons and armor you can get (power or strength amulet and scimitar if you use melee).
Try to stay focused and not loose your time chatting while you’re making gp
When you start feeling tired, you can kick in some local radio to keep you going

My favorite chicken pens – Best places to find chickens to kill and make money from

1. The farm across the cow field, north-west of Draynor and close to the the magic shop in port Sarim. The pen has 8 chickens – the most you will find in f2p.

2. Fred's farm, right across the cabbage field and North of the Lumbridge castle.

3. The Lumbridge Farm just South of Falador. It is near all the goblins and next to a cow field. A good place but sometimes I find it crowded.

4. The Champions' Guild’s chicken pen (32 quest points needed access), located

There are a few more places that I know of to find more chickens but from my personal experience, these ones work the best.

And remember, if you are looking to train prayer, this would be an excellent way to do it. Now go kill these chickens... Hope you liked it, Cheers! Stay tuned for the next guide!

RS Refer a Friend Program

Today, on the 18th of August, Jagex have introduced a "Refer a Friend program" in Runescape.

When a player invites a friend (or stranger, or a new self-owned account for that matter) , both receive experience boosts. The Inviter gets a 10% experience boost for an entire week (If the member subscrided to members), while the invited get a 100% (either subscribing on p2p or not). Yes you heard that right, a 100% experience boost (for all levels under 30, works for one week).

That is pretty sad if you ask me... I feel like RuneScape is getting more and more monetized. While browsing the forums, many players have been flaming the heck out of jagex.

Even zezima has replied with  "That's very... disappointing"  on the forums

Do you guys even remember this phrase from Mod MMG?

"One of our fundamental philosophies is that having fun is more important to us than making as much money as possible." - Mod MMG

First, the bonus xp weekend, then you could pay for unbanning an account, afterwards paying for the auroras, a nicname, and now pay for experience!

What will the next step be? Microtransactions? I'm afraid that these are not too far around the corner.

Join the Riots on world 66 p2p, or on world 79 in f2p. What do you guys think of all this? What do you think of the refer a friend program?

How do you see Runescape evolving if Jagex's Financial goals are not reached? Have your say in the comments below!

Making Money Collecting Wines of Zammorack (f2p)

One of the best ways to make money for runescape players in free-to-play (f2p) worlds, is collecting wines of zammorack. These wines are in high demand for making various potions on p2p worlds. Their current grand exchange price is 2'100gp each but it usually varies between 1500gp and 2400gp.

So how much money can you expect making per hour?
A: From 100k up to 250k an hour depending on current item price, if the place is crowded and your combat stats

Requirements: Have at least 33 magic OR moderate combat stats to attack monks with (19 prayer for rapid restore is also recommended)

Where: Wines of zammorack are located in a temple on the westernmost side of the wilderness, just a few squares under level 0 wild. This is just west of goblin village, west of edgeville and north west of falador.

You have two options on how to collect the wines of zammorack.

1) The first and by far most popular way is to cast the telekenetic grab spell (33 magic required). Each spell requires 1 law rune and 1 air rune (bring an air staff to save up runes). The downside of this method is that there might be others competing for the wine and sometimes bots that are usually much faster than you to cast the spell. Luckily though, there's a solution for this, read the second method;

2) The second way is to just get the wine bare handed from the table. For this to be possible, all the monks within the house need to be killed. Otherwise the game engine will not let you take the wine. If you are using this method, bring your very best armor and weapons.

Obstacle: When fighting the monks, they will sometimes temporarily lower your stats. Moreover, every time that you reach out to the wine, you will see fire surrounding the wine and your stats will decrease by a few points (1 point for every 13 levels or 3 points maximum if the level is over 40..Notice that all combat stats are decreased). As an example, it is not unusual for myself that has 80+ range to leave the place with my range level temporarily decreased in the 30's.

Solution: If you have 19 prayer or more, use the stat restore and any other prayer you can use as there is an altar next to the table to recharge your prayer points. Also, don't forget to bring food and even a strength potion if you use melee, as an excellent way to restore strength. You may want to bring some food as well - this is because your defense level will be decreased by the monks and wine.

After you are done with a full inventory, go south towards the bank in falador to bank all the zammy wines and come back. If you are doing it the combat way, and your stats have decreased grately, you may want to let one of the guards in falador kill you in order to come fresh again. Plus with the update now, you spawn right in Falador square, so it's even better.
Extra Tips:

- Try to have them killed one after the other as quickly as possible.

- Killing the monks usually gives me enough time to grab 9-10 wines.

- After all monks have been killed, it is much faster to get the wine with bare hands than it is with the telegrab spell

- If someone else tries to compete for the wine and get it manually then try this: when waiting for the wine, start repeatedly clicking on the table as fast as you can where the wine is due to appear. When the wine will appear, I can guarantee that you will get it. This works almost very well and over the years, I can say that very few others have figured out the trick.

I don't think I've missed anything, but if so, then let me know. Good luck to everyone!

How to Make Runescape Gp from Scratch (f2p)

2 days ago I found myself in that situation, without having scaped for over 164 days. My bank was empty and I had no money. If you lost yours too, then read this. By the way this is the fastest and most efficient method I've found to get you going.

Getting the first 500 gp.(3 minutes)

If you are in Lumbridge, then go by the goblin house or cows, and pick up 10 bones or more, actually 15 to be safe. You will need that money later on. The equivalent would be around 10 or 15 cowhides if you prefer, so long as it's more than 500 gp - because you will need that money soon.

From 500 gp to 15k (10-15 minutes)

Head down to the grand exchange to sell the items you picked up (price them so they sell fast), then head to the clothing shop in varock, right next to the general store. You will find multiple items selling for cheap but that are worth quite a bit on the grand exchange:

cape (red)= 224 gp
blue skirt = 186 gp
pink skirt = 116 gp
leather boots = 114 gp
white apron = 109 gp
priest gown (top) =71 gp
brown apron = 64 gp

Buy a full inventory of those, then bank them, go back, buy,etc - repeat until the clothing shop goes out of stock. When you are done, go sell them at the grand exchange. You will be surprised by how much money you will have made - in my case, a little over 15k. With that money you have now, you are no longer strangled.

From 15k to 100k (1 hour)

There are several options;

1.Killing chickens for feathers (2hours)
2.Collecting blue and black magic hats from aggie's magic shop (1hour)
3.Killing wizards at the wizard's tower for blue hats and robes (2 hours)
4.Collecting wines of zammorack (req: 32 magic or medium offensive stats) or good combat stats (1hour)
5.Riding Current merchanted items (Varies)

I will explain these in more detail tomorrow. If you have a good suggestion then leave a comment and I will add it. See you tomorrow, goodnite

Last login; 164 days ago! I'm back!

4-5 hours after writing the title : midnight :

Wow I'm already hooked to this game. I've quit runescape because it was taking up too much of my time, and now barely a few hours later, I find myself in the same situation. I think I should probably find a timer or a gadget of some sort that can close the runescape window after a pre-set ammount of time.

Moving on though, so now I'm back here on this site for god knows how long before i quit again.

You may notice that the google adverts have been removed.  This is because of several reasons
1. - The user experience seemed not as it is without the ads,  2 - Sometimes I noticed some ads from gold selling companies... it cheapens the game. Monitoring and removing these would be an unecessary time waster. And since these ads didn't make me rich you can guess, then why bother?

With my comeback, I plan on writing more specialized guides like this f2p range pure guide. I've thought about it and I think that the easiest way to make some progress and attract more people on this .com would be to write unique helpful articles/tutorials/guides about topics that have not been discussed prior, or at least not in great depth. In other words, come with unique stuff not found anywhere else... stay tuned!

Update: Also I just enlarged the font size a bit. Looking for some feedback on the size of font and how it fits
